Metropolitan Community College, Kansas City, Missouri (MCCKC) seeks recommendations, nominations and applications for the position of Vice Chancellor of Instruction and Student Affairs (VCISA). This newly created position provides strategic and visionary leadership for academic and student affairs across the five campuses.

 

MCCKC operates as one college with five campuses and other educational sites, under the leadership of Chancellor Kimberly Beatty, now serving in her eighth year at the College. MCCKC is one of the largest public education providers in the area, serving almost 18,000 unduplicated credit students annually and offering over 120 associate degree and certificate programs, on campus, online, or a combination of both. From its early days and humble beginnings, MCCKC has consistently focused on positive change and growth to provide students and the community growth through education. MCCKC has been accredited as a single entity by the Higher Learning Commission since 1986, and the College’s next reaffirmation of accreditation is in October, 2025. In addition, many of MCCKC’s academic programs are individually accredited.

 

The VCISA is a senior executive role reporting to the Chancellor, with oversight of daily operations for district-wide planning, development, and evolution of instructional programs, career and technical education, academic and career pathways, and districtwide student support services. The VCISA is also responsible for serving as the liaison between the College Faculty leadership, Vice Chancellors and Presidents, and other District shared service leaders ensuring that instruction and student services align and collaborate in concert with each other.  This position is pivotal in sustaining and expanding the caliber of the College’s programs, faculty, curriculum, and student services portfolio that advance growth. The VCISA serves a critical role in supporting MCCKC’s mission of preparing students, serving communities, and creating opportunities for all.

 

To be successful in this role, the VCISA will be a strong relationship-builder, able to thrive in a matrix style organizational structure, flexible and adaptable to change, energetic, resilient and committed to the mission of community colleges.  They will also be experienced in motivating faculty and employees, and comfortable taking initiative toward informed decision-making, and value shared governance and collective bargaining. The VCISA reports to the Chancellor, serves on the College’s senior leadership team, and collaborates across the College to achieve the goals of MCCKC Reimagined 2031.
